History

Legion of Black Collegians was formed by the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in 1968 and serves as the black voice here on the Columbia campus of the University of Missouri. LBC is the official black student government at Mizzou.

The Legion currently has five standing committees: Communications, Activities, Finance, Political, and Freshman Action Team. LBC plans, funds and executes programs and activities to enhance the experience that African American students have at Mizzou.

LBC was organized with the intent to give African-American students as voice in student government. The group acts as a social and political organization to promote the African American experience. Since its beginnings, the Legion has stood behind its purpose and mission to help African Americans on the MU Campus.
